Retreat asset class: COPRO’s third co-initiated project
Amid the harmonious setting on the outskirts of Berlin—nestled between forest and lake—rises a remarkable structure by Danish architect Sigurd Larsen. Within the Retreat asset class, this concept marks the third project co-initiated by COPRO. The Lake2Forest sports, health, and events center was built using sustainable timber construction and reflects the natural beauty of its surroundings.
Circular construction
The building was conceived with circularity in mind, with parts of the structure prefabricated in a factory. This forward-looking approach not only significantly shortened construction time, it also minimized disruption to the neighborhood during the build and reduced environmental impact.
Social responsibility
The client’s and architect’s choice of wood as the primary building material symbolizes a commitment to ecology—already established as a hallmark of the initiator’s earlier projects, paving the way for environmentally friendly, resource-conserving construction. It embodies the idea that the connection between people and nature is essential to physical and mental well-being.
Fitness, relaxation, and health in one
Lake2Forest is not only a place for sport, but also a refuge for the soul—a space to work on fitness, relieve stress, monitor health, and build social connections, all of which are vital, natural components of a balanced, healthy life.
