Berlin, October 13, 2017 – Co-investors v B Housing and COPRO are now offering visitors a preview of the future living quality of the newly revived, historic GLINT complex at the corner of Glinka and Tauben streets in Berlin-Mitte.
The complex, which received the Gold Pre-Certification at EXPO REAL 2017 (October 4-6, 2017), is being carefully renovated, revitalized, and adapted to modern needs by Bothmer Architects and the real estate developer COPRO. The financing bank is Berliner Sparkasse. In addition to 72 condominiums ranging in size from 25 to 330 square meters, a courtyard oasis and a fireplace lounge will serve as community spaces, and a forward-looking mobility concept with e-bikes and e-mobility parking spaces will be implemented. Furthermore, a comprehensive energy concept, including a solar power system, is planned. Located near Gendarmenmarkt, directly between the Tiergarten and Unter den Linden, the complex aims to unite the past and the future. The four existing historic buildings from the Wilhelminian era will be harmoniously complemented by a new building.
“This residential quarter in the heart of the metropolis is intended to showcase what the modern urban oasis of the future can look like,” explains Marc F. Kimmich, founder and managing partner of COPRO. The apartment showroom on the ground floor gives visitors a first glimpse of the potential of the building complex and what will be created here in the future. The showroom is divided into a public area and a private retreat, the latter featuring a fireplace that already hints at the fireplace lounge planned for this location.
“The basic idea is to unite the individual existing buildings from the inside into a cohesive ensemble. This is achieved primarily through a central courtyard, from which each building will be accessible,” summarizes architect Christopher von Bothmer, who, together with his wife Anastasia von Bothmer, is transforming the ensemble for modern times. As with many other COPRO projects, attention to detail is central to the development of GLINT. From the cast-iron decorations on the entrance doors and gates to the original floor tiles and ceiling ornaments, the building complex boasts numerous original details. Its unique blend of old and new, timeless design, and carefully selected furnishings creates a groundbreaking residential ensemble in the heart of Berlin.
