Berlin, September 18, 2017 – Real estate developer and investor COPRO is making the neoclassical GLINT building at the corner of Glinka and Tauben streets in Berlin-Mitte available for another art exhibition. From August 23 to October 14, 2017, Rüdiger Lange, curator and pioneer of temporary real estate use, will bring the property to life with the light art concept “Standard International #4 Spatial Clearings.” Together with 25 renowned Berlin artists, he is fostering a dialogue between architecture and art in public space. Exhibitors include Beate Terfloth, Philipp Geist, Fred Rubin, and Gerhard Mantz.
Over the coming weeks, the theme of light will be presented and interpreted in a variety of ways across 450 square meters on the first floor of the historic building. The forms of expression range from refraction and incidence of light to projections and reflections, all the way to light fixtures. Even the material itself takes on various forms: daylight, shadows, electric light, and indirect light. Each artist thus stages the space with their own interpretation of the interplay between architecture and light.
The exhibition is dedicated to the dialogue between art, space, and architecture, and thus also follows COPRO's philosophy: "The interdisciplinary approach enlivens the spaces of the historic property in a fascinating way, transforming the building into a cultural time machine," explains Marc F. Kimmich, art enthusiast and founder and managing partner of COPRO. The exhibition “#4 Spatial Clearings” follows “Standard International #1” and “Standard International #2” at Objekt Geisberg Berlin in Schöneberg and “Standard International #3” at Ensemble GLINT, continuing COPRO’s collaboration with Rüdiger Lange. “We provide impetus, comment on, emphasize, or counterpoint the architectural visions. With its neoclassical ambiance, GLINT offers a perfect setting to contrast with modern light art,” summarizes Rüdiger Lange.
Standard International #1 and “Standard International #2” at Objekt Geisberg Berlin in Schöneberg, as well as “Standard International #3” at Ensemble GLINT, are the next installments in COPRO’s collaboration with Rüdiger Lange. “We provide impulses, commentary, and either underscore or counterpoint the architectural visions. With its neoclassical ambiance, GLINT offers a perfect environment as a contrast to modern light art,” summarizes Rüdiger Lange.
