Awarding of the DGNB Platinum pre-certificate for the Urbane Mitte project in Berlin

COPRO Hosts Children's sports event on October 14 and 15, 2017 with european and world championship silver medalist in Artistic Gymnastics Philipp Boy

Berlin, October 10, 2017 – The vacant lot at Gleisdreieck will be transformed into a play, fun, and recreation area for two days: From Saturday, October 14 to Sunday, October 15, 2017, the Urban Center team and the initiator COPRO will turn it into a giant sports field in the heart of Berlin. With pioneering projects like this, the owners are already creating space for diverse sports, arts, and cultural activities on the "Urban Center" property.

The sports event for children aged 6 to 12 from the surrounding districts promises top-notch entertainment – for the whole family. At various activity stations, such as a bouldering tower, a bubble soccer area, a stuntman course, or a parkour workshop, children can playfully strengthen teamwork, dexterity, body tension, and coordination.

The area will also feature a go-kart track and a bungee trampoline basketball court. Other sporting activities will include bungee running, rope skipping, and hula-hooping. All stations will be supervised and safety-enhanced.

Philipp Boy: Top athlete and role Model

COPRO has come up with something special to answer questions about sports and proper training: Philipp Boy, Olympian and former European and World Championship silver medalist in artistic gymnastics, will be present at the event. As an authentic role model, he aims to motivate as many children as possible to participate and inspire them to engage in sports.

The focus of this children's sports event is not on winning or completing all the stations quickly. Rather, it's about the joy of movement. As with the Olympic Games, participation is everything here. All participants will receive a certificate at the end.

Fruit and drinks will be available at a dedicated relaxation station. In this context, the organizers emphasize the importance of promoting a healthy lifestyle through nutrition, in collaboration with a nutritionist.

The sporting approach to pioneering use

"With this sporting event as part of our pioneering use concept, we want to invite children and their parents to visit the future urban district. After all, sport will play a key role in the planned living and working environment," explains Marc F. Kimmich, sports enthusiast and founder and managing partner of COPRO. "We stand by our promise to create a space here for diverse sports, art, and cultural activities."

With this event, Marc F. Kimmich aims to give interested people in Berlin a glimpse into the new role of the Urban Center at Gleisdreieck and demonstrate what the project can offer the city and its residents. The first tenant, secured for the pioneering project back in summer 2016, is the local startup BRLO. This independent craft beer brand, with its own small brewery, operates a popular beer garden on the property, which has become a fixture at Gleisdreieck.
