Shaping the future together

The park, opened in 2013 and spanning 26 hectares at Gleisdreieck, offers expansive meadows, tree cover, as well as play and sports areas. Thanks to direct access to U1 and U2, several bus lines, and the nearby Yorkstraße S-Bahn station, the area is excellently connected and easily accessible by car.

The location and character of the property present many opportunities, but also challenges. Therefore, the owner prioritised an extensive dialogue early on: in workshop discussions, perspectives from citizens and experts were gathered, evaluated, and translated into clear tasks for further planning.

Competition procedure

After an intensive jury session, COBE Berlin and Ortner & Ortner Baukunst emerged as the winners of the urban planning competition. Their designs unanimously prevailed over five other concepts, impressing the jury and the clients with their quality and vision. The design by Ortner & Ortner now forms the basis for the master plan of a vibrant and sustainable urban quarter at Gleisdreieck.
