Kaiserbau

The Kaiserbau, a complex of five buildings, has defined the square since 1911. After its redesign in 2003, cafés, boutiques, and bars now enliven the area, and the newly renovated neoclassical building shines once again in its full splendour.

Concise, impressive and listed

The five-storey Kaiserbau, consisting of five buildings, dominates the scene at Marienplatz with its length of over 50 metres. It was designed in 1911 by architects Woltz & Bihl in the neoclassical style. The structure of this individual monument has been well preserved to this day.

Close to the city centre and well connected

The Kaiserbau is located directly at Stuttgart's "Zacke", the cog railway to Degerloch. The city centre and other districts are quickly and easily accessible, with excellent connections via public transport, B14, Heslacher Tunnel, and the motorway

Urban, young, and attractive

Vibrancy and urbanity characterise the location at Marienplatz, with its high population density and immediate proximity to Stuttgart's fashion, culture, and restaurant scene. The attractiveness, appeal, and significance of Marienplatz have been continuously growing since its redesign in 2003 and the establishment of new businesses.

Renovation, modernisation, and future use of the Kaiserbau

Together with the architecture firm Sindlinger & Vogt PartG mbB, the existing areas were carefully and gradually refurbished or modernised, bringing the property to a contemporary yet heritage-compliant standard.
New apartments and offices have been created, including a top-floor conversion restoring the original studio glazing.
The existing mixed use of commercial and residential space will continue.
