At the other end of the world

Far from COPRO's locations in Berlin and Stuttgart, an extraordinary project is taking shape in the historic center of Bogotá: In La Candelaria, the colonial old town district, COPRO is developing an innovative, green residential building with commercial space – Calle 13 – in collaboration with Colombia Companions and star architect Simón Hosie.


La Candelaria, built on the slopes of Cerro de Monserrate and under monument protection since 1963, still retains its colonial charm: narrow alleys, colorful houses, baroque churches, cafés, and museums define this vibrant district.

Living in the green heart of the city

The concept combines the colonial-style inner courtyard with the lush vegetation of Bogotá: the building blends seamlessly with the surrounding green hills, and large panoramic windows flood the spaces with light.


On the street side, a commercial unit will be created on the ground floor – preferably for an art café. Behind it, a slender block structure extends through the building gap, divided by two courtyards and spacious balconies. A total of 19 residential units are planned, ranging from approximately 70 to 130 m².


The rich plant life of Colombia also influences the architecture: green roofs as communal retreats, planted courtyard walls, and lush gardens create fresh air and a pleasant climate.
