Therbusch Ressource

Subtle on the outside, the building reveals its beauty upon entry. As the headquarters of the renowned Sprüth Magers Gallery, the exhibition halls offer a view of the almost forgotten Krausnick Park. The "Therbusch Resource" serves as a meeting point for art and media enthusiasts – from the upper floors, the view extends all the way to Museum Island.

A building with perspective

The building is listed as a constitutive member of the "Spandauer Vorstadt" ensemble in the Berlin monument register and is located in the eponymous redevelopment area. It was built in 1842 as the "Therbusch Resource" and served as a place of entertainment for members of the upper bourgeoisie and civil service until the 20th century. In 1931, the property was transferred to the Prussian State and was used as a student dormitory, subsequently serving as a teaching building for Humboldt University Berlin until 2003.

Amenities

The complex consists of a six-story front building with a side wing, plus a large hall as a transverse building facing the adjacent park. The 8,000 m² park is protected from development and has been redesigned by the State of Berlin. From the upper floors of the front building there are unobstructed views of Museum Island.

Surroundings

The property is located in Spandauer Vorstadt in the Berlin-Mitte district on Oranienburger Straße, one of the area’s most notable locations. The streetscape is shaped by historic buildings such as the New Synagogue and numerous grand tenement houses. Directly opposite, Monbijou Park is a green oasis inviting relaxation and offering impressive views of Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Transport connections

Public transit links are excellent: the Oranienburger Straße S-Bahn station (lines S1, S2, S25) and Hackescher Markt (lines S5, S7, S9, S75) are in the immediate vicinity, as are numerous tram and bus lines. Friedrichstraße (U- and S-Bahn) is about a ten-minute walk away.
